About Cathy

I hope you are enjoying looking at my work and even considering buying a piece for yourself or someone special. I have loved making jewelry as far back as I can remember. My mother was my first customer; I made special pieces for her out of shells or my aunts' costume jewelry. I would take apart the jewelry - I especially loved the sparkly rhinestones - and would glue them together in a new way to make my own creations. I also loved to draw and paint.

As I got older, I turned to making things for myself. I wanted something different; not just another piece like everyone else was wearing. I still like making one of a kind and limited edition pieces. I think it's fun to have something that is uniquely yours, something you won't see on every woman you pass.

Color and form are the inspiration for most of my work. The color of a beautiful or interesting stone can determine the design of a piece. I often buy the stone and then create the jewelry. I'm also interested in form and movement. I like to make jewelry that is comfortable to wear.

Jewelry was my hobby, not my work, for a long time. I have spent most of my adult life in the Information Technology field, first as a computer programmer and then as a manager. I also owned a high-tech recruitment firm for a while. But then the lure of jewelry-making came back. I started with metalsmithing classes at the Maine College of Art and then studied under such gifted artists as Pauline Warg, Kate Wolf, Jayne Redman, and Blaine Lewis - and the rest, as they say, is history!
